Recently, the Joyful Reading Jiangsu event, sponsored by the Education Department of Jiangsu Province, co organized by the Education Management Research Association of the Jiangsu Higher Education Society for International Students in China, and jointly organized by Jiangsu Ocean University and Nantong University, was successfully held in Lianyungang. This event attracted over a hundred foreign student representatives from 37 universities in the province, embarking on a journey to explore the cultural charm of Jiangsu. Four international students from Laos and Indonesia actively participated in this event.
On the morning of the 16th, Shen Xin, Vice President of Jiangsu Ocean University, Li Qinjing, a fourth level researcher from the Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Office of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, Zhang Haijun, Secretary General and Vice Chairman of the Foreign Student Education Management Research Committee of the Jiangsu Higher Education Association, and the head of the International Education College of Nantong University, the co organizer, attended the event and jointly launched it, marking the official start of the event.
At the event, a special gift was also prepared for international students - the gifted book 'Journey to the West', allowing them to further understand Chinese culture through classic literary works. As an important birthplace of the story in Journey to the West, Huaguo Mountain is full of mysterious colors everywhere. Every blade of grass, every tree, every hole, and every stone on the mountain seems to carry the imprint of mythological stories, which excites international students. Our international student from Laos, Song Yangtong, couldn't hide her excitement. She excitedly said, I have always been interested in Chinese mythology. Today, I can finally put down my books and personally experience this beautiful landscape
As night slowly covers the earth, in the bookish hall of Lianyungang City Library, international students are fully focused on listening to the historical stories of Lianyungang. Those distant or vivid pasts, like a slowly unfolding picture, are presented before everyone's eyes. The following segment was even more exciting, with international students taking to the stage and showcasing their country's cultural charm through unique performance forms. Someone shows off their singing voice and uses beautiful songs to convey the charm of their own culture; Some people perform dances full of ethnic charm, showcasing their unique charm with agile postures; Some people recited with deep affection, using the power of words to showcase the unique connotations of their own culture, pushing the atmosphere of the event to a climax.
The next day, the international students visited Donghai Crystal City and Chuandaijia Cross border E-commerce Industrial Park for on-site visits. Entering the East China Sea Crystal City, a dazzling array of crystal products instantly catches the eye. Their crystal clear texture and exquisite shapes deeply impress international students. Looking at the traditional arts and crafts that were originally shining in the local area, the students from abroad expressed their heartfelt admiration by taking advantage of the powerful power of the Internet, crossing the geographical restrictions, and continuing to go to all corners of the world.
Through this event, international students deeply felt the profoundness and inclusiveness of Chinese culture. In the future, our school will always adhere to the concept of promoting international cultural exchange, actively creating more high-quality platforms for international students, so that they can have a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of China, immerse themselves in the rich and colorful Chinese culture, and let the flower of international cultural exchange bloom more brilliantly both on and off campus.
