From 20 to 25 August, China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Exchange Week 2024, with the theme of ‘Deepening Education Cooperation, Promoting Humanistic Exchanges, and Creating the Future Together’, was held in Guiyang, Guizhou Province. President Wang Daofeng was invited to participate in the activities of the week and made a speech on the theme of exchange.
Vocational Education Going to the Sea
On August 20, the ‘International Capacity Integration for High Quality Development of Vocational Education in the New Era - The Second Workshop on International Cooperation and Practice of Vocational Education in the Context of Chinese Modernisation’ under the guidance of the Centre for Chinese and Foreign Humanities Exchanges of the Ministry of Education was successfully held, with participants from Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Kazakhstan and other countries. The workshop was attended by leaders of relevant departments, universities and famous scholars from Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Kazakhstan and other countries, who carried out in-depth exchanges on the practice of international cooperation in vocational education.
President Wang Daofeng made a keynote speech on ‘Two-Way Effort, Industry-Education Integration - Creating an International Education Brand for Transportation Vocational Education’, in which he introduced in detail the explorations and practice cases of the school's internationalisation of education, which provide new ideas for Chinese institutions to learn from when they go out to run schools. NJITT was selected as one of the institutions to build the ‘People to People Exchange Program -Jinshi Institute’ in 2024, and Yuan Qian, Minister of the Party Committee and Publicity Department, received the construction certificate on behalf of NJITT.
Thai Colleges and Universities Participate in ‘Programme’ to Draw a New Future of Co-operation
On 21st August, the first China-ASEAN Thousand Schools Cooperation Conference was opened, which was hosted by China Education Association for International Exchanges (CEAIE), with more than 300 school headmasters and representatives of teachers and students from 10 ASEAN countries attending the conference. NJITT was selected as one of the first schools to participate in the ‘China-ASEAN 1,000 Schools Cooperation Programme’.
At the conference, 14 groups of representatives of ‘China - ASEAN Thousand Schools Cooperation Programme’ project schools held a signing ceremony, Nanjing Vocational Institute of Transport Technology and Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna of Thailand were invited to participate in the signing ceremony. President Wang Daofeng and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uthen Kamnarn expressed that they would take this signing as an opportunity to help China and Thailand to cooperate in depth in the field of automotive education, and cultivate more international technical and skilled talents in the field of new energy vehicles.
The ‘China-ASEAN 1,000 Schools Partnership Programme’ (the ‘Programme’) was proposed by Premier Li Qiang when he attended the 26th China-ASEAN (10+1) Leaders‘ Meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia, in September 2023, and was included in the “List of Cooperative Initiatives of the Leaders” Series of Meetings on East Asia Cooperation’. It was also included in the ‘List of Co-operation Initiatives of the East Asia Co-operation Leaders’ Meeting Series’.
The first batch of ‘China-ASEAN Thousand Schools Cooperation Programme’ is organised by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education for schools at all levels to make declarations, and the success of the College in being selected as one of the first batch of project schools is a full recognition of the school's work of exchanging and cooperating with ASEAN countries in vocational education.
