From April to June 2024, the college successfully held a Chinese+Skills training course for international students at the Royal Thai Polytechnic University of Lana, with 17 Thai teachers and students participating in the training. This training is based on the New Energy Vehicle Testing and Maintenance Technology World School project of Nanjing Jiaotong University's Lana in Thailand, aiming to cultivate the technical and skilled talents needed by local and going global car companies in Thailand.
In response to the urgent need for Thai international students to improve their skills in the short term, the Chinese+Skills training is divided into three sections: professional skills, enterprise practice, and perception of China. The professional skills adopt modular teaching, including new energy vehicle maintenance, new energy vehicle fault diagnosis, power battery maintenance, engine assembly disassembly, electrical system maintenance, and other courses, covering the core courses of new energy vehicle testing and maintenance technology. Professional skills teaching is conducted in full English. Teachers carefully prepare lessons based on the professional foundation of Thai students, prepare detailed lecture notes and work orders, and guide them hand in hand with work tasks. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical operation training, students can improve their skills.
This project attaches great importance to deep cooperation between schools and enterprises, integrating the job requirements of enterprises into skill training. International students went to the production workshop of SAIC Nanjing Automobile Group Co., Ltd. and the Banqiao Automobile Trade Park of Jiangsu Sushun Group Co., Ltd. for enterprise practice. Through practical skills, students have truly experienced the job characteristics and responsibilities of different positions throughout the entire life cycle of automobiles, including power battery assembly, body manufacturing, whole vehicle assembly, automobile sales, automobile service reception, electromechanical maintenance, and sheet metal painting. They have learned about precise process operations in the body manufacturing workshop, experienced efficient collaborative work methods in whole vehicle assembly, experienced advanced robot operation skills in power battery PACK production, experienced the hardships of maintenance and service reception in the after-sales workshop, mastered the strategies and skills of digital sales in the marketing center, and deeply understood the importance of team collaboration in automobile production and service.
The extensive and profound traditional Chinese culture has great appeal to Thai international students. This training is based on China's rich historical and cultural resources, offering cultural experience, perception of China, and Chinese language communication courses for international students, allowing them to immerse themselves in Chinese culture, increase their understanding of Chinese culture, and help them understand China and integrate into Chinese learning and life as soon as possible.
In recent years, the school has actively built a dual wing integrated training model for international students, adhering to a diversified training model with academic education as the main focus and supplemented by Chinese language education and Chinese language skills training. It has explored a high-quality development system of Chinese language+vocational skills. The successful completion of this training project has further strengthened international cooperation and exchange in vocational education between China and Thailand, injecting new vitality into the exchange and cooperation of new energy vehicle technology between China and Thailand.
