On December 16th, the creative works exhibition and closing ceremony of the 2023 Enjoy Reading Jiangsu theme event for foreign students in Jiangsu Province were grandly held at Nanjing Normal University. Our overseas student's work Hexi Corridor was presented as an award-winning work in the closing ceremony as a creative work.
The personal creative work Hexi Corridor, which was brought by the Uzbek student YINGXIONG of our college, reviewed the past and present life of the Silk Road through poetry recitation, and praised the fruitful achievements of countries along the line since the 10th anniversary of the joint construction of the the Belt and Road initiative. The participating international students conquered the audience with fluent spoken Chinese, rich cultural content, and profound emotional expression, winning waves of applause from the whole audience.
The Yue Du Jiangsu event is a series of cultural activities organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education and co organized by the Foreign Student Education Management Research Committee of the Jiangsu Higher Education Association. The event is organized through the collaboration of multiple regions and schools, with foreign students in Jiangsu reading books related to Jiangsu culture, and combining the content of the books to travel through Jiangsu and experience Chinese culture. For this themed event, leaders from the Provincial Department of Education and relevant leaders from universities hosting the event attended the meeting. The authors of some award-winning creative works and representatives of foreign students from some universities showcased their creative works on the reading achievements of international students.
Our International Cooperation and Exchange Office actively participates in the Enjoy Jiangsu theme activity, organizes teachers to recommend book lists to international students, participates in activities, and guides international students to create works based on their personal experiences. Hexi Corridor and Guiyuan Tianju won second and third prizes respectively in the Joyful Reading Jiangsu work competition. In the future, the college will take the Joyful Reading of Jiangsu activity as an opportunity to focus on creating a knowledge action integration second classroom, actively promoting the new learning model of walking+reading, helping international students in China to better understand Nanjing and Jiangsu, taste the rich historical and cultural heritage of this land, and better spread Chinese culture.
