Li Bai (701 - 762), courtesy name Taibai and the Green Lotus Dweller, was born in Changlong County, Mianzhou, Sichuan County (a name he used to say he was born in the Western region of Shattered Leaves). He was a great romantic poet of the Tang Dynasty. He was a generous and cheerful man, happy to make friends, and loved to drink wine and compose poems, and was ranked as one of the Eight Immortals in Wine. He was once appreciated by Emperor Xuanzong Li Longji of the Tang Dynasty and served as a minister of the Hanlin, and was given gold and released to travel around the country. After Emperor Suzong of the Tang Dynasty took the throne, he was involved in the Yongwang Rebellion and was exiled to Yelang, where he was transferred to the home of Li Yangbing, the magistrate of Dangtu County. He died in the second year of the reign of Emperor Shangyuan (year of 762) at the age of sixty-two.
He is the author of Li Taibai Collection, and his masterpieces include Looking at Mount Lu Waterfalls, Hard to travel, Hard to reach the Road to Shu, Wine will be entered, and Early departure from Baidicheng. Li Bai's poetry, in terms of its pioneering significance and artistic achievements, enjoys an extremely high status, and is later known as the Poetry Immortal, together with the poet Du Fu, the Sage of Poetry, as Li Du.
Li Bai's music, songs and lines and stanzas are the highest achievements. Li Bai's songs and lines completely break the inherent format of poetry, with no dependence on any other, and with a variety of writing styles, reaching the magical realm of being unpredictable and swaying with the nature of his own. Li Bai's stanzas are natural, bright and elegant, and can express endless thoughts in simple and clear language.
