In the first Yangtze River Delta International Student Dragon Boat Invitational held in June, the NJITT International Student Team, as the only representative team from vocational colleges, achieved impressive results in a total of 32 representative teams. In order to carefully summarize the experience of participating in this dragon boat competition and further inherit and promote the excellent traditional Chinese culture, the International Cooperation and Exchange Office recently held the first Yangtze River Delta University Foreign Student Dragon Boat Invitational Summary Meeting. Zhang Haijun, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Foreign Student Education Management Research Committee of the Jiangsu Higher Education Association (hereinafter referred to as the Retention Management Committee), Yu Xiaonan, Vice Chairman, and Wang Xinrui, Director of the Secretariat, attended the meeting for guidance. Zhou Chuanlin, Deputy Secretary of the College Party Committee, attended the meeting. Comrades in charge of the Logistics Management Department and the Sports Department, relevant comrades from the National Cooperative Office, and members of the Dragon Boat Race for international students attended the meeting. The summary meeting will be chaired by Yuan Qian, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office.
At the beginning of the meeting, Zhang Yunquan, Deputy Director of the China International Cooperation Office, reported on the situation of our school's international student representative team overcoming many difficulties such as time constraints and heavy tasks, and forming a team to participate in Shanghai. In the competition, our school's international students' dragon boat team showcased their charm and friendship, showcasing the excellent spiritual outlook of NJITT's international students and establishing a good image of Jiangsu international students.
In his passionate speech, Zhang Haijun, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Retention Management Committee, thanked the Nanjing Institute of Transportation for its enthusiastic participation in the Dragon Boat Invitational. He pointed out that as a vocational college, NJITT took the initiative to register and train diligently under the premise of a small number of returning international students and a significant physical disadvantage, demonstrating the responsibility of Jiangsu universities. He sent a message to the overseas students: It is not easy for students to come to China to study across thousands of mountains and rivers. After entering the school, they should have a deep understanding of Chinese culture, carry forward the Chinese folk movement, and be good ambassadors of friendship between China and foreign countries. Vice Chairman Yu Xiaonan emphasized that NJITT actively organizes international students to participate in traditional Chinese cultural experience activities such as the Dragon Boat Race, which is conducive to enhancing everyone's sense of honor and belonging, cultivating a deep sense of teamwork, and hoping that students will cherish learning opportunities in China, go and read more, and tell Chinese stories well.
Deputy Secretary Zhou Chuanlin of the College Party Committee expressed gratitude to the leaders of the Retention Management Committee for visiting Nanjing Jiaotong University to guide their work, and hoped that the Retention Management Committee would continue to pay attention to NJITT and help the school continuously make new breakthroughs in international education. At the same time, he gave full recognition to the international students for their actions of facing difficulties, uniting and advancing, and adding glory to the school. He emphasized that this dragon boat competition will become an unforgettable experience for the students for a lifetime. In their future learning and life, he hopes that the students will implement the style of working together in the same boat to the end.
Yuan Qian, Director of the National Cooperation Office, expressed gratitude to the Provincial Department and the Retention Management Committee for their guidance and concern towards the work of international students at NJITT, as well as to all departments for their meticulous organization and cooperation. She stated that the China International Cooperation Office will continue to strengthen and promote the excellent traditional Chinese culture from a new starting point, promote the continuous improvement of the quality of international student education, and make greater contributions to Jiangsu's international student education leading the country and strengthening the Study Abroad Jiangsu brand.
At the summary meeting, the leaders of the retention committee had a friendly exchange with the international students on many details of the competition. Although it was their first time participating, international students expressed their admiration for this traditional sports event
