On June 10, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and the Education in Shanghai International Exchange Association hosted the Shanghai International Dragon Boat Race for College Students and the First Yangtze River Delta International Dragon Boat Invitational Competition for Foreign Students. The Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament for Foreign Students invited Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui and other universities for the first time to compete with Tongji University, Fudan University and Zhejiang University. The international student team of Nanjing Jiaotong University is the only team from higher vocational colleges, and together with Nanjing Forestry University, it represents the colleges and universities in Jiangsu Province.
On the afternoon of June 10th at 2 o'clock, with the sound of the starting gun, the competition officially began. On the water surface, the regular drums beat out a symphony of progress, and the neat oars burst out a chapter of hard work. On the shore, the students were enthusiastic and kept an eye on the changes on the water, cheering the athletes on. Among the 32 participating schools, the college's international student competition showcased exceptional performance, ranking 21st with a time of 1 minute, 4 seconds, and 13 seconds, surpassing the predetermined goal. After receiving the relevant work deployment from the provincial department, the college overcame various difficulties such as tight time, heavy tasks, tight manpower, and limited funds, and successfully formed a dragon boat team for international students on May 14th. Under the high attention of the school leaders, and with the cooperation and careful organization of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, the Sports Department, and relevant colleges, we have not only ensured weekly water dragon boat training, but also arranged physical fitness training. In addition, water sports in the hot summer especially test students' physical and mental health. The school has also done a good job in water, Sports drink, medicine and other necessary logistics support to ensure that students adhere to training with full enthusiasm. On June 9th, the college organized a pre competition mobilization meeting and once again emphasized the disciplinary requirements to students: firstly, international students should respect each other, abide by rules, obey commands, obey management, and especially have a sense of time; Secondly, international students represent international students from Jiangsu Province to participate in competitions, and must showcase their charm and friendship; The third is to adhere to the principle of safety first to ensure safe participation and smooth return to school. On the Tonghai Lake in Shanghai, the international students from Nanjing Jiaotong University united and fought bravely, not only showcasing their charm, but also deepening their friendship and further expanding their international perspective.
Dragon boat racing, as an ancient Chinese folk sport, has been passed down for over two thousand years and has rich cultural connotations, carrying the collective spirit of sharing weal and woe and helping each other in the same boat. It has always been deeply loved by foreign students studying in China. For the first time, this year's Dragon Boat Race invited international students from universities in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui to form teams to participate, providing a platform for international students from other regions to showcase themselves and enter traditional Chinese culture.
Nanjing Jiaotong Vocational and Technical College has always attached great importance to the perception of Chinese education among international students, and has integrated traditional Chinese cultural education throughout the entire process of international student education.
