In April 2023, our school's international students returning to China one after another. Under the unified coordination of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office, and with the active cooperation of relevant functional departments and secondary departments, offline education and teaching work for international students has been fully restored. Returning to the long-awaited offline classroom, teachers and students are full of spirit and dedication, and the on-site teaching is in order.
Excellent Chinese language proficiency is the foundation for future professional learning among international students studying in China. Teachers of Chinese as a foreign language use courseware, video, pictures and other teaching aids to comprehensively cultivate the ability of foreign students to listen, speak, read and write in Chinese, help them effectively improve their ability to use Chinese, and enter professional courses as soon as possible.
Solid professional knowledge is the key to the growth and success of international students coming to China. In order to help international students better carry out professional course learning, each secondary college carefully arranges teaching staff, teaching organization, and other aspects to ensure high-quality and efficient teaching. The School of Transportation Management has revised and improved the teaching plan for courses such as International Trade Practice, Customs Clearance Practice, International Freight Forwarding Practice, and International Trade Geography. For experimental and practical courses that were not taught offline before returning to school, they will be supplemented one by one after the comprehensive offline resumption of classes; The College of Electronic information engineering has adjusted the class hour plans for such courses as Advanced Routing and Switching, Computer Hardware and Maintenance, Database Application and Management, and has appropriately increased the proportion of English words according to the course content, and put rich teaching resources on the teaching platform for students to learn after class.
In addition, courses such as Sports, Chinese Painting, Traditional Chinese Culture, and English Speaking have all resumed offline teaching. Teachers take the initiative to increase interaction with overseas students, and help them feel the unique charm of Chinese culture in an all-round way through various cultural carriers such as Taijiquan, Chinese painting, and Chinese ceramics, so as to better integrate into the life of overseas students in Jiaotong University.
Before international students return to school, the China International Cooperation Office coordinated with the school's logistics management office, student engineering office, asset management center, and other departments to renovate their dormitories, standardize their daily management, and ensure their living environment. After the international students returned to school, the China International Cooperation Office immediately assisted them in completing nucleic acid testing, temporary accommodation registration procedures, insurance purchase and physical examination, and promptly processed their mobile phone and student cards. The campus network was opened, providing guarantees for the normal life of international students in school. Before resuming offline teaching, the staff released teaching information such as map instructions and pre class notifications in advance in the international student group. The teachers conducted a thorough inspection of the classroom's facilities and equipment to ensure that the teaching equipment was functioning properly.
The first batch of returning international students from our school come from the School of Transportation Management and the School of Electronic Information Technology. According to the relevant teaching arrangements, Thai international students from the School of Automotive Engineering will also return to school soon to start offline courses.
