In the afternoon of September 29, the World Education Organization Federation and the Gambian Ministry of Education jointly hosted the launching ceremony of the African National Vocational Standards Development Project - Gambia. Zhu Fu, Minister of Science and Technology of Gambia's Higher Education, Liu Baoli, Vice President of the Chinese Vocational Education Association, Zhou Jiansong, President of the Vocational and Technical Education Branch, and Massane Nuku Conti, Gambia's Ambassador to China, Leaders of the Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Office of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education attended the ceremony. Our school set up offline branch venues at the same time, and teachers' representatives from the Joint Office of the State Council, the Office of Academic Affairs, the School of Automotive Engineering, the School of Road and Bridge and Port&Navigation Engineering, and the School of Transportation Management participated in the launching ceremony.
Since the beginning of September, the College has started the development of professional standards in African countries. The National Joint Office, the Office of Academic Affairs, the College of Automotive Engineering, the College of Road and Bridge and Port&Navigation Engineering, the College of Transportation Management, the College of Rail Transit, and the College of Architectural Engineering carefully compared with the project approval conditions of the construction unit, combined with the development situation of Gambia's industry and job needs, selected advantageous majors, and organized the application work. Now, after preliminary evaluation by the expert group, our school has been determined as the project construction unit. The school will work with foreign parties and the World Federation of Educational Organizations to develop the professional standards based on the posts of new energy vehicle technician, mapping technician and logistics administrator, and strive to obtain the certification and promotion of the Ministry of National Certification and Quality Assurance of Gambia (Ministry of Education), so as to help Gambia improve the vocational skills and employability of the labor force.
It is reported that this African National Vocational Standards Development Project aims to help African countries to introduce Chinese vocational education resources, give full play to the advantages and characteristics of Chinese vocational education, and participate in the construction of African vocational education. This project will first be launched in Gambia, and then will expand to Mauritius, Rwanda, Zambia and other African countries, This is of great significance for improving the level of vocational education cooperation and exchange between China and African countries.
