On December 18, the China-ASEAN Higher Education Cooperation Forum and Youth Forum was held at Nanjing University of Technology, jointly sponsored by the China-ASEAN Center, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, and the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government. Jia Lili, secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing Institute of Traffic Technology (NJITT), and the only representative of higher vocational institutes in Nanjing was invited to attend the Forum and made a keynote speech. Education counselors and education officials from Thailand, Indonesia, Laos, Vietnam, and other countries, participated in the Forum, as well as representatives of teachers and students from colleges and universities in Jiangsu Province.
In the speech titled Adhering to Running Schools with Traffic Characteristics to Promote China-ASEAN Vocational Education Cooperation and Development, Secretary Jia shared the relevant situation of the educational cooperation between NJITT and ASEAN countries. Secretary Jia said that the “Belt and Road initiative” provides more development opportunities for China-ASEAN trade cooperation with China, and at the same time, it will also require many transportation skilled personnel. NJITT aims at cultivating high-quality technical talent and cultural messengers. NJITT actively serves Chinese-funded enterprises in investing abroad and conducts extensive and in-depth cooperation with ASEAN countries in education field. On the 30th anniversary of the establishment of China-ASEAN dialogue and at a new starting point for China-ASEAN relations, NJITT will continue to strengthen vocational education exchanges and cooperation with ASEAN countries, deeply integrate international production capacity cooperation, and contribute to the international development of vocational education.
At the China-ASEAN Youth Forum, representatives of international students spoke freely about exchanging life in China under the epidemic, and Baoli, a Lao student at NJITT, expressed what they saw and felt in Nanjing as a student representative. Baoli said that the superior teaching and living environment make her full of gratitude for studying abroad in Nanjing, and the care and love of the college makes her and her family feel at ease and moved. Baoli also said that she will, like other seniors working in the transportation industry, contribute to the long-lasting friendship between China and Laos.
